🗣️ Civic Engagement in Action! 🏛️
Ms. Bakewell’s 2nd grade class has been learning all about civic engagement — how to share their voices and make their opinions heard!
To put their learning into action, the students held a mock town hall meeting where Dr. Gibson served as the Mayor. The young “citizens” shared their ideas and debated two exciting options for improving their school: fixing the blacktop and adding basketball hoops 🏀 or building an outdoor classroom 🌳.
Our second graders did an amazing job speaking up, listening respectfully, and learning what it means to be active members of a community! 💙
