Our 5th grade Afterschool STEM students at GES had an exciting opportunity to work alongside the Bio-Med II students at Somerset Vo-Tech! 🧪🔬 They learned all about bacteria and conducted a hands-on investigation by collecting samples. What a fun and engaging learning experience!

📚As part of their CLKA unit on inventors, students are learning about collaboration. Check out Ms. Laman’s class collaborating on building free-standing teepees. Soar Eagles, Soar!🦅

👀Check out these stupendous second grade scholars in Ms. Bakewell’s class! They were reading and responding with CKLA text during small groups. Way to soar Eagles! 🦅📚

Students in Mrs. Sproul’s class played Categories to activate prior knowledge before diving into their lesson on the properties of matter—such a fun and engaging way to get their minds ready to learn! 🧠🔬✨

Good afternoon Greenwood families! Our students have come back rested and ready to learn; 2026 is going to be a great year!
I have noticed an increase in the number of students wearing hats or hoods inside the building, which is not permitted under the SCPS Uniform Policy.
Beginning tomorrow, after a student has been reminded three times to remove a hat or hood, they will be asked to place it in their cubby or locker for the remainder of the school day. Students will, of course, continue to be allowed to wear hats and hoods during recess and dismissal so they can stay warm.
I will be reviewing this expectation with students during the Morning Announcements to ensure everyone is aware. I also wanted to communicate this with families so you are informed as well.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership—it is truly appreciated.
We are so excited to see our Greenwood Eagles soar in 2026!

🔬✨ Mrs. Sproul’s 5th grade scientists were hard at work yesterday! Students explored matter by observing physical characteristics and learning all about the different states of matter. So much hands-on learning!

A special surprise is heading home today! Each student will receive a keepsake ornament from the bazaar, courtesy of the Learning Support Team to celebrate their year at GES and remind them how truly special they are to us.
